ตรงกับวันที่ 21 กันยายนของทุกปี จัดขึ้นเพื่ออุทิศแก่สันติภาพ และโดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งการปราศจากสงคราม บ้างถือเป็นโอกาสพิเศษกำหนดหยุดยิงชั่วคราวในพื้นที่ที่ยังสู้รบกันอยู่ มีการเฉลิมฉลองวันสันติภาพสากลในบรรดาชาติ กลุ่มการเมือง กลุ่มทางทหาร และประชาชนทั้งหลาย วันสันติภาพสากลจัดขึ้นครั้งแรกใน พ.ศ. 2524
